After going through the public education system for US K-12, I still do not feel the adults of today are well equipped to have safe, good, or pleasurable sex with each other or ourselves regardless of sex and gender. Having to search the internet for every separate sexual interaction is both nerve-wracking and frustrating and we all deserve better access to the vast information on sex that exists.
The Collective is an ongoing collection of sexual information and media designed to destigmatize experiences, educate curious minds, and provide an easy and accessible source to access it. Although I primarily feature books as my primary resource of writing, I'm glad to accommodate various learners with access to podcasts, video form media, and social media as well.
I also attempt to curate verified shops for trustworthy, body-safe, and inclusive toys and products so that people can practice and learn about what they want to buy. In addition to curating these shops, I run my own art store www.bettersexcollective.shop and pursue affiliations to make the site as self-funding as possible!
Currently, BSC is run by one woman who also works a full time job! My name is Deja and I happened to become a sex education enthusiast by choice because I find the information valuable and fun to learn about.
For those who are curious: I'm asexual, a young adult, and I do not have any formal higher education related to web design or sexual health and education. So if you have any questions regarding sexual health I highly recommend asking licensed professionals or your doctor if you have access to one!
